An Interview with Sydni Webb; Group Production and Accounts Director at Envoy.
Emma King: After so many years in the industry, how do you stay passionate about what you do?
Sydni Webb: The world is constantly changing, and faster than ever now. There are new opportunities and challenges every day, and to me, that’s exciting to be solving with the team.
EK: What inspires you?
SW: I am inspired by the team around me – they are smart, talented, and each bring something unique. And together, we are a force. Beyond the team here, my daughter is a constant inspiration. It is important to me to be the best role model I can for her, and part of that is demonstrating how to balance work with being a wife/mother and meeting the needs of my family. There was a study that found that working mothers are more likely to raise successful daughters. I found it to be inspiring and encouraging given the balance I am trying to achieve.
EK: What advice did you receive early in your career that has stayed with you?
SW: To always be interested in being interested.
EK: Can you tell me about a female role model who has inspired you over your career?
SW: My direct manager while at Team One has always been an inspiration to me. She has an incredible ability to lead teams and clients with such grace, while making it look effortless. Not only is she incredibly smart, but people around her genuinely respect and adore her – she’s definitely gifted.
EK: What three skills do you think are essential to be a great leader?
SW: Trustworthy, good communicator and flexible.
EK: If you could give any advice to a young woman in your industry what would it be?
SW: I would advise them to find ways to provide additional value daily in order to earn trust and visibility, in addition to being truly invested in their work and the team/client.
